The River Nene is fertile and alive with boats and fish. The river banks are beginning to burst into life. It is a traditional time for enthusiasm now the winter is receding and a time that the dire blandness of stored food can be supplemented by new growth food from our natural environment. Easy to say but what do you look for? Cabbages are cabbages and weeds are weeds. One you eat the other you exterminate. That, sadly, is the modern mind set but far from accurate. There is a larder out there waiting for the forager to hunt it down. This requires an expert to decipher the good from the not so good and possibly deadly.
