"New mums value talking to women who've been in the same position, and practical support gives them the confidence to continue breastfeeding" Roberta Roulstone, NHS Peterborough
Peterborough now has 30 breastfeeding peer supporters who have been trained by an NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor with over 20 years of experience. The training is organised by the Peterborough Primary Care Trust and funded by Department of Health.
The volunteers are trained to provide a listening ear and relevant information, and to recognise when parents may benefit from being directed to a health professional or breastfeeding counsellor. They are all mums who breastfed their own children.
There are babe cafes held throughout Peterborough every week. Please download the information leaflet below for locations, dates and times of courses.
