Venue:- The John Clare Theatre. Date:- 17th March, 2010.
The Greeniversity celebrated the phenomenal achievements of the teachers, learners and mentors who, over the last few months have made the Greeniversity the runaway success it has become, by awarding certificates of merit in the first ever Green Degree Awards ceremony.
The importance of the event was reflected by being honoured with the attendance of some of Peterborough’s most dynamic and motivated personalities. Compered by Rachel Huxley the whole evening was a total success mirrored by the graceful presence of Nichole Lawrence. Anyone who watched last years X-Factor will recognise the name and any of those present on the evening will never forget the incredible depth and richness of her voice or the pleasure of receiving their certificates from a remarkable lady. Rosie Wilson amused and educated the audience with tales of the Tudors and the origins of some of our best known expressions including the ‘graveyard shift’, ‘saved by the bell’ and ‘dead ringer’ that came from the fear of being buried alive leading to the job-post of grave-yard attendant who waited for the newly buried to ring a bell that was on a rope from the coffin if they were still alive. There was no such need on this evening. The whole event breathed life, vigour and enthusiasm for the Greeniversity concept and the success of those who shared the Learning Experience.
